My Playlist

The music you choose to listen to can say a lot about who you are as a person.  By taking a closer look at the music I enjoy we'll be able to understand who I am.

A few of my favorite songs and artists in no specific order:

A lot of these songs and artist aren't extremely popular.  I think a lot of people would rather listen to country music (especially in Wisconsin) or more of pop/rock music.

However, I would rather listen to alternative or punk rock.  As a Spanish major every once in awhile I'll listen to some Spanish music but that's usually only when I do Spanish homework.

So why these songs your probably thinking.  Well to put it simply these songs speak to me more. That might not make sense right now but I'll explain.  I love listening to the lyrics of songs.  The beat does make me like a song more or less but I really listen to the lyrics.  The lyrics in the specific songs and in certain songs by the artists I like all have lyrics that help me in whatever situation I'm in.

I've gone through a lot of hard times recently and Alt-J really helped me.  When I listened to them it helped me calm down.  I focused on just listening to what they were saying and nothing else and even though I love their music it helped me fall asleep.

Some of the songs my boyfriend introduced me to so I like them because we would sing them together and when I listen to them I can think of him and cheer up.  There's a song by Rise Against called Swing Life Away and he told me it was his favorites song.  I like it because it makes me think that life isn't meant to be crazy and fast paced, unless you want it too.  You can just "sit on front porches and swing life away."  It reminds me that love is important and when you're with the person you love live sort of does just swing away.

I am almost always listening to music, whether I'm doing homework, cleaning, or just hanging out I always have music going.  Lately I've been more into Rise Against but it all depends on which mood I'm in or what I plan to accomplish that day.

Music helps me get through the days and it makes life a little less stressful.
