Blog Portfolio

The topic I enjoyed writing about the most was about Harry Potter.  I enjoyed writing about this topic because I like to read Harry Potter and watch the movies so it was something I enjoyed before writing about.  The topic that I didn't like too much was the blog about Fruitvale Station.  I didn't enjoy this as much because I couldn't really get into the movie.  It was an alright movie and I think since I didn't like the movie that much it made it more difficult for me to write about.  The other blogs were about things I enjoyed so they were much easier and more fun to write.

I think my strongest post was My Playlist Myself post.  I think it was the strongest because I also really enjoy music so it was really easy for me to write about.  It was strong because I didn't have to think much about what I wanted to say about the songs I had already known what songs I wanted to chose and why so it was just a matter of putting it down on paper.  My weakest blog was most likely Fruitvale Station.  Just like why it was the one I least enjoyed writing about, it was hard to know what I wanted to say.  I struggled with which scene to talk about I kept going back and forth between which scene I should write about.  It was my weakest I think because it was the hardest to write about.  Sometimes, when writing things is hard it can actually be done really well.  But in this case of blogging about Fruitvale Station I didn't do very well.

I don't think posting my blog entries on a public source had affected my writing at all.  I wrote what I would have wrote whether it was public or not.  I used to never let anyone but the teacher read what I wrote because I always thought it was really bad or it didn't make sense.  Now that I'm older though I don't care as much if people will think my writing is lame or weak so I didn't stress about it being available for my classmates to read.

Fruitvale Station

There were two scenes that stuck out to me.

One was when Oscar helps Katie find the right fish for her fish fry and when he befriends the stray dog.  Both these scenes show Oscar isn't your stereotypical black man who sells marijuana and has job problems and has been in jail.  Oscar is at his old job and over hears that a girl is trying to find fish to fry but has no clue which to chose.  He then calls his grandma and asks her if she can help this girl.  The other scene is when he is at the gas station and sees the stray dog.  He even texts Sophina asking if he should come eat lunch with her.  Both these scenes show that he is trying to do better and I guess to me shows that he has sympathy and he has a heart actually.  When the dog gets run over he yells at the driver and tries to comfort the dog.  Since getting out of jail Oscar has made it a point to become a better man, getting rid of the marijuana and wanting to better is life for Sophina and Tatiana.  However he still loses in the end.

Harry Potter

In about seventh grade I started watching the first movie.  I never finished watching it and after that whenever I would watch the movies it was only certain parts.  Then, senior year of high school I decided I wanted to read the books.  I read the books and they were awesome.  The reason I wanted to read them was because so many people made references to them and I wanted to know what they were talking about.  I got hooked though when I started reading them.  I love to read and my boyfriend had all the books anyways so I just borrowed them from him and they were great.

Since I read the books first I had really high expectations for the movies.  My expectations were definitely met though when I watched the movies because I liked them a lot.  It’s hard to say which I prefer more though.  It’s much easier to watch the movie, it takes a lot less time and as a college student, leisure reading is really hard.  However, I will probably read the books again this summer.  I don’t think I have a preference though as to which I like better.  They are both awesome.

My favorite scene from the book and movies both is when Harry and Hermione save Buckbeak and Sirius Black.  Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite book and I love everything about it.  For some reason I always love the bad guy in movies and books.  So when I first read about Sirius Black being the killer of Harry’s parents I hated him but then I decided, for some reason that I don’t know that I like Sirius Black.  So when I found out that he actually didn't kill Harry’s parents I was so happy.  I like this scene in the movie because it’s fun to watch Hermione hit Draco.  I like it because I like how Harry and Hermione see themselves and that’s pretty cool to me.

My Playlist

The music you choose to listen to can say a lot about who you are as a person.  By taking a closer look at the music I enjoy we'll be able to understand who I am.
